Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Knoxville seeks a senior Radiological Engineer to lead projects involving radiation monitoring, dose calculations, and system design for nuclear plants. You will coordinate with multi-discipline teams and interface with clients worldwide, including travel to Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in radiological engineering, strong NRC knowledge, and experience with calibration of monitoring systems.

Qualifications

• BS or MS degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience with radiation monitoring systems including detectors, signal processing, and interfaces with plant systems.
• Experience with calibration and detection capability of radiation monitoring systems including primary/secondary calibrations and energy calibrations.
• Working knowledge of NRC regulations and guidance for licensing and license renewal of nuclear plants.
• Proficiency with Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel for automation or data processing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• PE license desired, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Handle radiological dose calculations and source term calculations.
• Design radiation monitoring system components and interfaces with plant systems.
• Engage with clients on domestic and international nuclear projects.
• Travel to client offices and plant sites for progress meetings; potential international travel.
• Perform site walk-downs and address emergent client issues.
