Job summary

Alta Planning + Design in Houston, TX is seeking a full-time Project Financial Analyst to support project managers by managing costs, revenues and reporting for multiple projects. You will maintain project budgets, review subcontractor invoices, consolidate invoicing packets, and ensure accurate financial data.

The role offers a hybrid schedule with home days and in-office collaboration. Candidates should have 3–5 years in project accounting, strong analytical skills, proficiency with accounting

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of work experience in project accounting or a similar role
• Experience in a deadline-driven, project-based environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Strong initiative, ability to manage competing priorities and multiple tasks
• Ability to work independently with little supervision and as part of a team
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Experience in engineering, construction, or architecture
• Experience with Deltek or VantagePoint

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review client invoices and supporting documentation monthly or as requested
• Ensure timely, accurate billing and resolve invoicing discrepancies
• Support project budgeting and financial reporting
• Monitor costs, identify budget variances and financial risks, and address concerns
• Maintain accurate, complete project information, billing data, and financial records
• Regularly review and reconcile data to support reliable reporting and effective budget management
• Monitor outstanding invoices, assist with collections, and coordinate with project managers and the finance team to resolve payment issues
• Attend project meetings, provide timely reports, and help staff understand invoicing procedures
• Ensure project financial activities and documentation comply with company policies, procedures, and regulations
• Participate in finance and operations meetings, recommend workflow improvements, and provide backup support
