Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a Preconstruction Manager to lead and coordinate all preconstruction activities for utility-scale wind, solar, and storage projects, ensuring designs are complete, de-risked, and contract-ready so construction can begin on schedule.

The role oversees engineering, permitting, interconnection, and scope development, directing internal teams and external engineers, managing surveys, design milestones, and cost optimization to reduce risks and total LCOE.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Construction related field from an accredited university
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Renewable Energy construction, engineering, and project management. PMP preference
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to manage customer relationships
• Proven desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
• Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
• Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
• Strong organization and ability to coordinate multiple tasks
• Ability to multi-task while working independently and as part of a team
• Motivated self-starter with problem-solving abilities
• Ability to communicate with diverse backgrounds

Responsibilities

• Drive preconstruction readiness by coordinating engineering, permitting, procurement, and O&M inputs to ensure projects are fully prepared for construction
• Direct internal teams and third-party engineers to produce geotechnical, civil, HV, PV, and BESS designs for bid and construction readiness
• Coordinate survey execution and site data collection with development teams for accurate engineering design
• Monitor design progress and milestones (60% PV, 100% HV, IFC) to enable bidding and contract award
• Lead cost optimization and LCOE improvements through cross-functional reviews and value engineering
• Support site layout optimization to meet stormwater and permitting requirements
• Develop civil permitting strategies with defined permits, approvals, and timelines
• Facilitate acquisition of utility crossing agreements and permits with legal and engineering stakeholders
• Prepare and coordinate interconnection plans with engineering, transmission, and compliance teams
• Integrate O&M requirements into project scope and contracts for lifecycle operability
• Assemble scopes of work for bidding and lead cross-functional reviews to close gaps
• Enable procurement by delivering complete engineering packages and documentation
• De-risk projects prior to construction mobilization through risk assessment and issue resolution
