Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a Sr Engineer I, Electrical Projects to oversee electrical systems design for onshore wind, solar, and storage projects in development. This office-based role requires collaboration with internal teams and external consultants to ensure compliant, safe designs.

Responsibilities include balance of plant design, pre-construction support, grid code studies, equipment specification, and project lifecycle coordination with emphasis on health and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum 6 years of professional experience in electrical engineering.
• Experience in transmission design, substation design, collection and distribution design, major equipment specification, power system studies, and protection/control.
• Renewable generation project design experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills; able to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Teams.

Responsibilities

• Design balance of plant packages during development.
• Provide engineering project support during pre-construction, construction, and turnover to Operations.
• Ensure grid code compliance and interconnection requirements.
• Specify and evaluate major balance of plant electrical equipment.
• Conduct power system modeling and studies.
• Coordinate project engineering topics during construction.
• Manage 3rd party engineering consultants.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and SMEs across the project lifecycle.
• Incorporate health, safety and environmental standards into designs.
• Support development of electrical engineering standards.
