Job summary

The Kina'ole Family of Companies is seeking a Payroll Specialist in a hybrid role based in San Antonio. You will process payroll for multiple US-based companies across various cycles, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance while working closely with HR, Finance, and Accounting teams.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years of payroll experience, multi-state processing including prevailing wage, and hands-on ADP Workforce Now or Unanet ERP experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years payroll processing experience across multiple states.
• Five (5) or more years payroll processing experience, preferably supporting government contracts.
• Experience with multi-state payrolls including prevailing wage (SCA, CBA, Davis-Bacon Act).
• Experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar systems; Unanet ERP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll accurately and timely for multiple companies across the United States on multiple cycles.
• Audit timecards, payroll data, and reports prior to processing.
• Process payroll adjustments: raises, bonuses, overtime, off-cycle payrolls, garnishments, deductions, direct deposits, and checks.
• Maintain employee payroll records, tax withholdings, direct deposit info, and documentation.
• Handle multi-state payrolls including special payrolls (SCA, CBA, Davis-Bacon Act, Guam).
• Ensure policy compliance with payroll taxes and deductions; stay updated on regulations.
• Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, and journal entries for audits and financial reporting.
• Assist with year-end payroll processing and audits.
• Monitor compliance and propose improvements; develop SOPs and train staff.
