Hilltop Holdings is seeking a Payroll Specialist in Dallas, Texas for a hybrid role. The position requires four days onsite weekly with one remote day, reporting to the Payroll Manager.

You will handle day-to-day payroll processing, verification of timekeeping, and changes to employee records, ensuring accurate and timely pay runs. The role emphasizes accuracy, compliance with wage laws, and maintaining process documentation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma plus 3 years’ payroll experience.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and within deadlines.
• Knowledge of federal wage laws and payroll taxes (FLSA, Social Security).

Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time.
• Handle payroll changes including hires, terminations, job changes, garnishments, leave requests, and deductions.
• Serve as backup for other payroll roles as needed and cross-train.
• Implement controls to minimize payroll errors and investigate discrepancies.
• Generate routine and ad-hoc payroll reports and audits.
• Assist with adherence to regulations and documentation for payroll procedures.
