Job summary

Overlake Medical Center serves as the coordinator of all medical care and test referrals for the site. The coordinator is charged with timely scheduling of patient referrals to specialty, hospital and ancillary providers as requested by OMC's medical providers.

Responsibilities include coordinating appointments, ensuring information is received, notifying patients of appointments and testing requirements, and tracking patient compliance with referrals.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• AA or BA preferred.
• Minimum of one year working experience in an outpatient physician clinic.
• Experience working with the referral/authorization process preferred.
• Strong analytical and computer skills required.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to work with physicians, patients, and staff.
• Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks.
• Knowledge of electronic medical records preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Knowledge of managed care preauthorization procedures preferred.
• General insurance knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating appointments, ensuring the patient's medical and demographic information is received by the specialty/outside provider.
• Ensuring that the patient is notified of the appointment and any special testing requirements.
• Tracking patient compliance with the referral appointment.
