Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) seeks a PRS II to facilitate access to UTMB services for new and returning patients. The role coordinates financial arrangements, conducts financial screening, and communicates with patients, referral sources, and the treatment team regarding access and financial issues.

The position requires an Associate’s degree and 3 years of experience in billing, financial screening, insurance verification, collections, or customer service.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in related field or equivalent.
• 3 years’ experience with billing, financial screening, insurance verification, collections, and/or customer service.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient demographic and Third Party Payer information.
• Assist with registrations and verify eligibility for services.
• Determine potential reimbursement sources and direct patients to financial assistance.
• Collect deposits and facilitate referrals/prior authorizations.
• Explain ABN and PPA forms and ensure accurate, compliant data handling.
• Provide information to patients, physicians, nurses and staff; support maximum reimbursement.
