Job summary

UTMB Health is seeking a Patient Registration Specialist II for the RCO Financial Clearance team. The role supports access to UTMB services for new and returning patients, coordinating financial screening and communicating with patients, referral sources, and the treatment team.

The position operates in a hybrid remote capacity (Wednesday–Sunday) and requires an Associate’s degree with 3 years of related experience in billing, insurance verification, or patient financial services.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in related field or equivalent.
• 3 years’ experience with billing, financial screening, insurance verification, collections, and/or customer service.

Responsibilities

• Verifies patient demographics and Third Party Payer information.
• Facilitates COR, ED, Admitting Registrations as defined in area tools.
• Verifies insurance coverage, benefits, and authorization requirements for services.
• Screens patients for financial responsibility and cash collections.
• Directs patients toward financial assistance programs.
• Collects applicable deposits and facilitates referrals/prior authorizations.
• Determines eligibility of third-party programs and provides information resources to patients.
• Maintains knowledge of ABN and PPA forms and supports training of new staff.
• Participates in team meetings and helps achieve department goals.
