Job summary

College of Southern Nevada invites applications for a Part-Time Instructor, ABE Math for FY 2027. In this role you will teach Basic Skills, Pre-HSE, and HSE preparation, using in-person and online tools to support adult learners in Las Vegas.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field, and prior experience teaching math at basic/intermediate levels or HSE prep. Schedule is 3–4 days weekly, mornings or evenings, with 8–10 week program.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, Literacy, or related field.
Experience teaching basic through intermediate level math or HSE prep.

Responsibilities

Teach Basic Skills, Pre-HSE, and HSE preparation courses, focusing on mathematics.
Maintain accurate student records (syllabi, attendance, lesson plans).
Motivate students to achieve educational goals beyond basic education.
Collaborate with colleagues on course offerings and program enhancements.
Attend professional development opportunities and staff meetings.
Adhere to prescribed curriculum and standards.
Use effective teaching techniques and assessment methods, including exams.
Possess proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suites.
Work effectively with a diverse population.
Demonstrate strong time-management, oral, and written communication skills.
Show appreciation of, sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse academic environment.
Experience in hybrid classroom online/in-person instruction.
Knowledge of educational technology and its use in classroom settings.
Interpret and apply educational data to program standards and benchmarks.
Monitor student progress using online programs such as TABE, CASAS, Aztec, and WorkKeys student portals.
