Job summary

LANWT, Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas, in McKinney, Texas, seeks a Paralegal for a full-time hybrid role to assist attorneys in a broad civil practice. You will handle intake, drafting, and case management while supporting outreach and client services.

You will work under attorney supervision to manage caseloads, maintain accurate electronic files, and communicate with clients, courts, and agencies. Spanish fluency is a plus; some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree and paralegal certification preferred.
• Spanish fluency preferred.
• Ability to manage an independent caseload under attorney supervision.
• Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
• Proficiency with Word processing, filing, and case management tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide paraprofessional legal assistance to eligible clients under attorney supervision.
• Serve as primary case handler or support to manage caseload from intake to resolution.
• Conduct client intake, screening, referrals, and maintain electronic case files.
• Assist with case development through interviews, research, and documentation.
• Draft pleadings, orders, and other legal documents; coordinate hearings and filings.
• Support attorneys in client representation and outreach; track case status.
• Develop knowledge of practice areas and stay current on applicable laws.
• Travel to courts, agencies, and community locations as needed.
