Job summary

Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas (LANWT) seeks a dynamic paralegal to join a team serving low-income communities across North and West Texas. The role may focus on case handling or broader case support, under attorney supervision, with a hybrid work setup in Weatherford, TX.

The ideal candidate has an Associate’s degree and paralegal certification, plus Spanish fluency and strong organizational, written, and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree and paralegal certification preferred.
• Spanish fluency (verbal and written) preferred.
• Strong organizational skills; detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; professional and courteous interpersonal abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related applications.
• Ability to travel occasionally and maintain reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Provide paraprofessional legal assistance to eligible clients in civil matters under attorney supervision.
• Serve as primary case handler for designated matters, managing caseload from intake to resolution.
• Conduct client intake, screening, referrals, and maintain accurate electronic case files.
• Assist with case development through client interviews, fact gathering, research, and investigation.
• Draft pleadings, orders, correspondence, file documents, coordinate hearings, and communicate with courts and clients.
• Support attorneys and advocates in client representation and community-based work.
• Maintain up-to-date case records and track status, statistics, and reporting.
• Build knowledge in assigned practice areas and stay current on laws affecting LANWT's client population.
