Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Los Alamos, NM is seeking a senior Electrical Engineering leader to guide design teams on complex electrical systems for nuclear and DOE projects. The role mixes office and site work in a hybrid arrangement and focuses on detailed design, calculations, and compliance with client requirements.

The position requires a strong background in power systems, security clearances, and leadership in a multi-disciplinary environment, with futures in licensure and professional development.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain US Government security clearance.
• BSEE degree from ABET-accredited program required; MSEE preferred.
• Must be able and willing to obtain P.E. licensure.
• Must be able to obtain a DOE “Q” level clearance.
• 12+ years of experience in electrical engineering design for power, DOE, nuclear/navy or NNSA projects; experience leading a design team in all project phases.

Responsibilities

• Act as Electrical team lead coordinating detailed design for all electrical engineering work.
• Lead efforts to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Coordinate systems design to meet specs, codes, and client requirements.
• Prepare and review detailed electrical calculations (arc flash, voltage drop, fault current, lighting).
• Prepare documentation for design inputs, master diagrams, and master schematics.
• Interface with vendors for equipment purchase specifications; present technical reports and studies.
• Perform independent reviews of others’ work, including calculations and drawings.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and promote knowledge sharing via Communities of Practice.
