Job summary

Harvard University in Cambridge, MA seeks a Non-Sponsored Funds Analyst to support budget development, financial analysis, and strategic resource planning for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences non-sponsored funds portfolio.

You will consolidate data, monitor fund balances across thousands of funds, and ensure adherence to financial policies and donor terms while providing actionable reporting and recommendations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience.
• Experience with MS Office Suite, advanced Excel skills.
• Knowledge of fund accounting and non-profit regulations.
• Demonstrated experience with Harvard systems including HART, Oracle Financials, and Advance.

Responsibilities

• Support the Manager of Non-Sponsored Funds in routine review and analysis of non-sponsored fund balances across the FAS.
• Consolidate data from disparate systems and sources to provide accurate reporting (budget-to-actual, YoY trends).
• Handle accounting entries related to non-sponsored funds, such as interest expense/income allocation and balance forward adjustments.
• Review fund balances and develop plans for hard-to-use funds in collaboration with the Manager.
• Perform internal control and regulatory testing related to non-sponsored funds.
• Reconcile the To Be Determined (TBD) Gift and Endowments funds and coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve balances.
• Calculate support allocations to be applied to professorships and other restricted funds.
• Gather and review capitalization and decapitalization requests.
