Job summary

Belk is seeking a Merchandise Assistant to support the buying team by handling the end-to-end order flow, inputting POs, tracking shipments, and maintaining accurate merchandise records. The role collaborates with vendors and cross-functional partners to ensure timely communication and maximize sales and margins.

Essential duties include setting up orders, processing and updating POs, tracking orders, and pulling reports for the Buyer review.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience required.
• 1+ year retail experience preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access).

Responsibilities

• Set up styles write orders for buying office and maintain items in database.
• Communicate with vendors to manage purchase orders: create new POs, track orders.
• Process orders with speed and precision.
• Update/change POs within all appropriate systems.
• Track and communicate with vendors to resolve issues and understand status of orders.
• Enter price changes into RPM to alter pricing.
• Manage season codes for markdown process with Planner.
• Pull selling reports for Buyer business review.
• Assist with advertising functions including proofing ads using Marketing Workflow and Workhorse.
• Drive the Sample Process: manage samples from request to purge.
