Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a Drafter 3 to join the mechanical design team in a hybrid role. You’ll prepare and revise CAD drawings and 3D layouts for Oil & Gas and Power projects, incorporating engineering markups and supporting package development.

You will work three days in the office and two days remotely, collaborating with multidisciplinary engineers while adhering to project schedules, standards, and safety requirements. Prior drafting experience and CAD familiarity are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in drafting or CAD technology, or a high school diploma with relevant drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.
• At least 1 year of drafting experience, with field experience relevant to industrial mechanical design work.
• Working knowledge of mechanical general arrangements, piping systems, supports, and related design deliverables.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CAD software, and 3D plant layout design tools.
• Strong communication, organization, accuracy, multitasking, and schedule-management skills with a commitment to safety and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, revise, and maintain complex drawing diagrams, layouts, and detailed mechanical design drawings using CAD and 3D modeling tools.
• Interpret and incorporate engineering markups into project drawings and deliverables.
• Support multidisciplinary engineering and design teams in developing mechanical physical layout drawings in a 3D model environment.
• Apply company and project drafting standards while meeting project plans, schedules, deadlines, priorities, and budget constraints.
• Assist with field activities such as gathering measurements, locating tie-ins, as-building existing systems, and supporting walkdowns and data collection at client facilities.
• Maintain effective communication with project team members and provide support needed to complete accurate, timely design deliverables.
