Job summary

Siemens Electrification and Automation in Wendell, NC is seeking a Protection, Control & Automation Panel Design Engineer with HV protection experience to design and develop sophisticated power automation panels for critical substation systems.

You will work hands-on, integrating Siemens and third-party products, provide technical guidance, and support the full lifecycle from design to commissioning while occasionally assisting the sales team with scope development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering required.
• 4+ years of power system protection, control, and automation experience.
• Experience designing protection, control, and automation panels and related deliverables.
• Knowledge of protection relays and automation systems from major vendors.
• Familiarity with IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, IEC 60870-5 protocols and FAT/SAT testing.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical, mechanical, and system drawings for panels per specs.
• Develop logic diagrams and protection schemes from requirements.
• Prepare FAT and SAT procedures for protection systems projects.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship within project teams.
• Act as primary customer interface for problem solving and commissioning.
• Support full lifecycle from design through implementation, with occasional scope input to sales.
