Job summary

The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology is seeking a Human Resources Manager to oversee recruiting, benefits administration, compensation, and employee relations, ensuring compliance and alignment with the institution’s mission.

In this full-time, hybrid role, you will guide leadership on payroll systems, training, and workforce development while fostering an exceptional employee experience across the organization.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of HR generalist experience; higher ed or not-for-profit preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field; professional HR certs preferred.
• Experience with HRIS/payroll systems and compliance knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Serve as initial employee relations contact; troubleshoot benefits, payroll, and policies.
• Develop, update, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
• Manage recruitment cycle: postings, screening, interviewing, background checks.
• Coordinate onboarding and liaison with agencies and colleges.
• Oversee benefits administration, COBRA/ACA compliance, and data reporting.
• Provide training and leadership development; support performance processes.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field

3–5 years HR generalist experience

Strong knowledge of employment law

Professional certification in HR (PHR, SPHR, or similar)
