Job summary

Gretchen's House Child Care Centers is seeking a part-time HR Leave and Accommodations Specialist to coordinate employee leave programs and workplace accommodations in compliance with FMLA, ADA, state and local laws. This hybrid, 20-hour/week role serves as the primary contact for leave administration, including notices, tracking, and return-to-work planning.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in HR, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field required.
• Minimum of two years of experience administering employee leave programs.
• Knowledge of federal and state employment laws related to leave administration and accommodations (FMLA, ADA, PWFA, USERRA).
• Experience administering FMLA and ADA programs; HR experience in early childhood/educational settings.

Responsibilities

• Review FMLA requests and determine eligibility per laws, policies and procedures.
• Guide employees and supervisors on leave rights, responsibilities, timelines, and documentation.
• Issue notices, designation forms and leave correspondence.
• Track leave usage, intermittent leaves, return-to-work dates, and exhaustion of balances.
• Maintain confidential medical and leave records per HIPAA and confidentiality rules.
• Coordinate with Payroll, Benefits, supervisors and leadership on leave and pay status.
• Administer the interactive process for workplace accommodations under the ADA.
• Review medical documentation supporting accommodation requests.
• Coordinate with employees, supervisors and HR on reasonable accommodations and return-to-work plans.
• Monitor effectiveness and ongoing compliance of accommodations.
• Respond to leave and accommodation questions from employees and supervisors in a timely manner.
