Job summary

Blue River PetCare is seeking a Leave of Absence Specialist to manage the end-to-end administration of leave and accommodation programs. The role partners with Payroll, Benefits, Legal, and HR Business Partners to support employees through intake, eligibility, and return-to-work processes.

You will oversee complex cases, maintain compliant records, and ensure timely communications with employees and managers. A hybrid schedule is available for those living within 40 miles of the Chicago office.

Qualifications

• Experience administering FMLA and other federal, state, and local leave programs.
• Knowledge of ADA, USERRA, and state/local leave laws.
• Ability to administer complex leave and accommodation cases.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage leave cases from initial request through return to work, including complex matters.
• Administer FMLA and state/local leave programs and track usage and certifications.
• Communicate status with employees, managers, and HR Partners throughout the process.
• Coordinate with third-party leave administrators and maintain accurate records.
• Manage interactive accommodation process and evaluate reasonable accommodations.
• Collaborate with Payroll, Benefits, Legal, HRIS and managers to support administration.
