Job summary

Gretchen's House Child Care Centers in Ann Arbor, MI, is seeking a part-time HR Leave and Accommodations Specialist (20 hours/week, hybrid). You will coordinate FMLA/ADA leave and workplace accommodations, ensuring compliance and compassionate employee support.

You will work with the HR team to review requests, maintain records, and communicate rights and timelines to staff and supervisors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Admin, Public Admin, or related field.
• Two years of experience administering employee leave programs.
• Knowledge of FMLA, ADA, PWFA, USERRA and related regulations.
• Experience administering FMLA and ADA programs.

Responsibilities

• Review FMLA requests and determine eligibility in accordance with laws, policies, and procedures.
• Provide employees and supervisors with guidance regarding leave rights, responsibilities, timelines, and required documentation.
• Issue notices, designation forms, and correspondence related to leave administration.
• Track leave usage, intermittent leave, return-to-work dates, and exhaustion of leave balances.
• Maintain confidential employee medical and leave records in compliance with HIPAA.
• Coordinate with Payroll, Benefits, supervisors, and department leadership regarding leave and pay status.
• Administer the interactive process for workplace accommodations.
• Obtain and review medical documentation to support accommodation requests.
• Coordinate with employees, supervisors, and HR leadership regarding reasonable accommodations and return-to-work plans.
• Monitor accommodations for effectiveness and ongoing compliance.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws related to leave administration and accommodations.
• Respond to employee and supervisor questions regarding leave processes and workplace accommodations.
