Job summary

WSP in the U.S. is seeking a Lead Geotechnical Engineer / Project Manager to join our team in Charlotte, NC. The role involves leadership across geotechnical investigations, design, and construction for infrastructure projects in both public and private sectors.

Expect to guide junior engineers and collaborate with a multidisciplinary Earth & Environment group. The position is full-time with an in-office emphasis and options for hybrid work; strong client relations and project management are

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil Engineering with geotechnical emphasis; PE preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 7–10+ years of professional experience in geotechnical projects.
• Project management experience including scoping and tracking hours/expenses.
• Strong client relationships and proposal development experience.
• Knowledge of deep/shallow foundations, slope stability, seismic/retaining walls, and related geotech topics.

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical projects and manage multiple concurrent assignments.
• Provide guidance and training to entry- and mid-level geotechnical engineers.
• Analyze field data and contribute to project development, design, and construction.
• Maintain QA/QC standards, measurements, and data analysis.
• Develop construction plans, specs, and cost estimates.
• Prepare data visualizations, tables, charts, and reports for presentations.
• Prepare and review technical reports and presentations with findings and recommendations.
• Prepare and implement site HASPs and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Interact with regulators, clients, subcontractors, and drillers professionally.
• Stay current with geotechnical techniques and practices.
• Collaborate with engineers and planners on infrastructure projects.
• Lead ethically, manage resources, and adhere to company policies.
