Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our team. You will develop comprehensive fire protection designs for diverse projects, including life safety analyses and NFPA/UFC compliance.

You will collaborate with sales and clients, review drafts, and mentor junior engineers across offices in Boston, Fairfax, Pittsburgh, Maitland, Raleigh, or Dallas. A PE license and 7+ years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• PE license required or soon-to-be licensed.
• 7+ years of related experience in fire protection engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop fire protection engineering designs, including layouts, basis-of-design, water supply analyses, and detailed plans for sprinkler and alarm systems.
• Act as QFPE for federal projects including life safety and fire protection analysis.
• Review designs for compliance with NFPA, UFC, and state/local regulations and sign off on documents.
• Collaborate with sales to create proposals and respond to RFPs; meet with clients to assess current and future design needs.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior staff; supervise engineers on project work.
