Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to design and validate fire protection systems for complex infrastructure projects. You will develop designs, perform hydraulics analyses, and ensure compliance with NFPA/UFC standards.

You will collaborate with clients and sales staff to respond to RFPs, lead design reviews, and mentor junior engineers. A hybrid work model offers office and remote work options across several U.S. locations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering, or in Engineering Technology or related discipline.
Professional engineering (PE) license.
7 years of related experience.
Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

Develop comprehensive fire protection designs including water supply and hydraulic analyses.
Act as QFPE for federal projects, covering life safety and fire alarm analysis.
Review drafts for compliance with NFPA, UFC and local regs.
Create fire protection and life safety designs for client needs.
Evaluate systems using HydraCAD, HydraCALC or similar software.
Collaborate with sales to prepare proposals in response to RFPs.
Meet with clients to review design needs and opportunities.
Provide guidance and mentoring to junior staff.
