Job summary

The State Bar of Michigan is seeking an experienced Events Manager to plan, coordinate, and execute SBM meetings, conferences, programs, and special events. You will oversee the full planning process, from strategy and budgeting to venue coordination, registration, and post-event evaluation.

This full-time hybrid role requires 3–5 years of experience, and CMP or comparable designation is preferred. You will collaborate across departments and may travel to support events, with on-site execution

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of professional meeting/event planning experience.
• CMP or comparable designation preferred.
• Strong knowledge of event planning/operations, budgeting, registration, and on-site coordination.
• Proficiency with MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, event management tech, and iMIS.
• Willingness to travel and work evenings/weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage SBM meetings, conferences, programs, and events from development through post-event evaluation.
• Coordinate venues, vendors, contracts, catering, AV, transportation, and entertainment.
• Oversee on-site event logistics, including registration, staffing, speakers, and attendee communications.
• Develop contingency plans, run-of-show documents, and checklists to mitigate risks.
• Maintain SBM facilities meeting coordination, support other departments as needed.
• Manage event budgets, expenses, invoices, and revenue tracking.
