Job summary

Eaton is seeking an experienced Embedded Systems Architect to lead architecture, design, and development for next-generation Electronic Trip Units used in low- and medium-voltage circuit breakers. You will shape robust, scalable embedded systems with safety-focused development and digital connectivity features.

The role requires deep expertise in real-time embedded systems and collaboration across product management, hardware, software, test, and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in embedded systems development for industrial applications.
• 5+ years in a technical leadership, lead engineer, or architect role with strong background in real-time embedded firmware and hardware/software integration.
• Relocation is offered for this position; candidates reside within 50 miles of Moon Township, PA.
• Eaton will not sponsor immigration for this position (no CPT/OPT/STEM OPT etc.).

Responsibilities

• Define robust, modular system architectures for Electronic Trip Units across circuit breaker product families.
• Collaborate with product marketing and system engineering to develop product specifications for hardware and firmware development.
• Lead RTOS-based and bare-metal embedded products, guiding hardware and firmware decisions.
• Establish design standards, development practices, verification methodologies, and deployment across teams.
• Conduct technical research and prototype activities to finalize concepts and technology choices aligned with roadmaps.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive ongoing improvement in engineering practices.
• Address product quality, customer and production issues in coordination with other functions.
