Job summary

Eaton is seeking a Lead Firmware Engineer in Moon Township, PA, hybrid role with relocation support within the United States. You will design embedded firmware for circuit breaker trip units, lead technical decisions, and mentor a global team from concept to production.

Responsibilities include architecture, debugging, testing, and collaboration with hardware and cybersecurity teams to ensure reliability and quality of products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 3 years leading firmware development and decisions for embedded products.
• Minimum 7 years hands-on embedded firmware/software development in C/C++ for multi-controller systems.
• Experience with RTOS and bare-metal environments; extensive peripherals knowledge (ADC, PWM, UART, SPI, I2C, DMA, GPIO).
• Eaton will not sponsor CPT/OPT/STEM OPT or similar work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, integration, and testing of embedded firmware for MCU-based products.
• Contribute to firmware architecture decisions and provide technical leadership.
• Plan and coordinate firmware tasks with robust execution plans aligned to objectives.
• Review work and participate in design/code/quality reviews; provide feedback.
• Mentor engineers in firmware design, development, debugging, and testing activities.
• Develop reliable firmware components using C/C++, RTOS, and embedded protocols.
• Investigate root causes to resolve product, manufacturing, and field issues.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, quality, cybersecurity, manufacturing, and test teams.
• Support firmware verification, validation, and system-level testing for quality targets.
• Develop and maintain automated test tools, verification suites, and stress tests.
