Job summary

Zurich North America is seeking an Underwriter or Underwriting Specialist for E&S Property in a hybrid role, based in Chicago, New York, or Atlanta. You will underwrite new and renewal business, partner with managers to set flexible schedules, and meet with agents in the marketplace.

Responsibilities include risk assessment, applying underwriting rules, and collaborating with national wholesalers to drive profitable growth. The role requires strong MS Office skills and regulatory knowledge.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent with 1+ years in underwriting/market facing, or 2+ years in claims/underwriting support.
• Zürich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 1+ year in underwriting/market facing, or 4+ years in claims/underwriting support.
• Bachelor’s Degree with 1+ year in underwriting or underwriting support (E&S Property).
• Knowledge of lines of business and regulatory guidelines.
• Knowledge of quotes timing for new/renewal business.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and underwrite new and renewal business with market-facing exposure.
• Apply underwriting rules, guidelines, and rating manuals.
• Collaborate with national wholesalers to drive growth and maintain profitability.
• Interact with brokers/agents and provide high-level customer service.
• Meet internal authorities to handle moderately complex underwriting tasks.
