Job summary

Zurich North America in Chicago is seeking an Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter for Umbrella Excess Casualty on the National Accounts Large Property Underwriting team. The role offers hybrid work with a flexible schedule and required marketplace visibility three days per week in-office.

You will underwrite new and renewal business, build strong broker and client relationships, and contribute to growth with targeted opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 3+ years in underwriting or market-facing area, or CIP Apprentice with Associate Degree and 1+ year experience.
• Knowledge of lines of business and regulatory guidelines.
• Experience with quotes on new and renewal business; strong office software skills.

Responsibilities

• Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
• Conduct opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth.
• Qualify accounts for appetite and business fit; plan broker calls.
• Negotiate terms and conditions; close deals; cross-sell to increase density.
• Engage in target account processes and maintain broker/client visits in systems.
