Job summary

Zurich North America is seeking an Underwriter or Underwriting Specialist for E&S Property, based in NY, Chicago or Atlanta with hybrid work options. The role involves underwriting new and renewal business, interfacing with national wholesalers, and applying The Zurich Way of Underwriting framework under delegated authority.

The ideal candidate has 1+ year in underwriting/market facing roles or related experience, and may come from an apprentice path or hold a Bachelor’s degree.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent with 1+ year in underwriting/market facing
• HS diploma or equivalent with 2+ years in claims or underwriting support
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice + Associate Degree + 1+ year in underwriting/market facing
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice + Associate Degree + 4+ years in claims or underwriting support
• Bachelor’s Degree with 1+ year underwriting/underwriting support

Responsibilities

• Serve as a customer industry advocate focusing on risk understanding and end-to-end insurance solutions.
• Apply disciplined exposure evaluation, risk assessment and pricing.
• Utilize risk insights, data and models to drive decisions at the point of sale.
• Engage in market-facing production within the E&S Standard Property group.
• Administer underwriting rules, guidelines, laws and rating manual rules.
• Operate within broad limits on highly complex assignments.
