Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Charlotte, NC seeks a distribution design engineer to lead project teams on overhead and underground facilities from 4 kV to 38 kV. The role blends in-office collaboration with remote work, and includes field support as needed.

You'll review sketches, prepare work packages, coordinate with clients, and ensure code compliance (NESC/NEC/IEEE). Strong communication and leadership are essential; experience with AutoCAD/ArcGIS is expected.

Qualifications

• This position requires an Associate's degree in a design-related field, or a 4 year non-engineering degree.
• 6+ years of experience with electric utility distribution or relevant experience to review work by others.
• Knowledgeable in physical distribution design methods and their application.
• Familiar with design codes and standards such as NESC, NEC, ANSI, IEEE, GIS/GWD.

Responsibilities

• Lead a project team and provide construction support when necessary.
• Prepare/Review sketches and work packages for distribution facilities (4 KV through 38 KV).
• Support preliminary project scoping and field work when needed.
• Communicate with clients and coordinate joint use and permits.
• Review cost estimates and Bill of Materials; oversee complex tasks.
