Job summary
Sargent & Lundy is seeking a design-oriented electrical engineer in Charlotte, NC, to lead a project team in distribution design for 4 kV through 38 kV systems. The role involves preparing construction sketches, performing analyses, and coordinating with clients across project phases.
The ideal candidate has an ABET-accredited engineering degree and 2+ years of experience in electric utility distribution, with proficiency in AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and PoleForeman.
Qualifications
- Requires degree from ABET-accredited engineering program.
- Two or more years of experience with electric utility distribution or relevant experience to review others' work.
- Knowledgeable in physical distribution design methods and their application.
- Familiarity with design codes and standards such as NESC, NEC, ANSI, IEEE, GIS/GWD.
- Experience with complex overhead and underground distribution projects (120/208V through 38kV).
- Strong communication skills and ability to lead a project team.
Responsibilities
- Prepare/Review construction sketches and work packages for overhead and underground distribution facilities (4 KV through 38 KV).
- Pole loading analyses, voltage drop and flicker calculations, cable pulling, BOM, cost estimates, joint use coordination, traffic control plans/permits.
- Support preliminary project scoping, field work, maintenance and recapitalization of distribution components.
- Plan modifications and oversee complex tasks, provide construction support and client communication.
