Job summary

Breakthrough Miami seeks a Director of Development to grow unrestricted giving and sustain programs. The role requires building authentic donor relationships, closing gifts, and meeting ambitious annual targets while managing a 175–225 donor portfolio.

You’ll collaborate with leadership to drive campaigns, events, and donor stewardship across cycles. The position reports to the Chief Philanthropy Officer and is an in-person role with flexibility, centered in Miami, FL.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of progressive fundraising or related experience.
• Demonstrated ability to fundraise $1M+ annually and manage a donor portfolio.
• Ability to build authentic relationships quickly and close gifts.
• Experience with donor stewardship and engagement across cycles.
• Proficient in Salesforce or similar CRM and standard office suites.

Responsibilities

• Meet annual goals: $750K in Year 1, $1.25M in Year 2, and $1.5M+ annually.
• Manage a portfolio of 175–225 individual donors and prospects.
• Lead donor meetings and craft proposals, reports, and solicitations.
• Collaborate with CEO/CPO and Board on cultivation and closing efforts.
• Oversee events, campaigns, and communications to drive giving.
