Job summary

Breakthrough Miami seeks a results-driven Director of Development to grow and sustain unrestricted giving in support of its mission. The Director will secure annual and multi-year unrestricted gifts, manage a portfolio of 175–225 donors, and develop an annual strategy to move prospects through the donor cycle.

This role requires a fundraising leader who can build authentic relationships quickly, engage prospects, and close gifts. Year 1 goal is $750K with growth thereafter.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience or internship/volunteer background in events, development or nonprofit sector
• Demonstrated skill in relationship building
• Strong organizational, project management and communication skills
• Some experience working within budgets and timelines
• Proficiency with CRM systems, MS Office and online platforms (Salesforce, social media, Canva).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Advisory committees and engage Breakthrough’s adult volunteer network.
• Assist with development of promotional materials and supporter communications.
• Support donor stewardship and sponsorship fulfillment.
• Coordinate donor engagement tours and acknowledgments with Operations.
• Plan and execute events (Fashion & Philanthropy, STEPS 5K, Career Day, Brunch).
• Maintain vendor lists and in-kind donations; assist with budgets and event logistics.
• Support partner-led and programmatic events as needed.
• Lead or participate in special projects related to donor engagement.

SUMMARY:Breakthrough Miami seeks aresults-driven Director of Developmentto grow and sustain unrestricted giving in support of the organization’s mission and programs. The Director will secureannual and multi-year unrestricted gifts, manage a portfolio of175–225 donors and prospects, create and execute an annual strategy to move prospects through the donor cycle, and leverage events, campaigns, and community opportunities to drive giving.

This role requires an experienced fundraiser who canbuild authentic relationships quickly, actively engage prospects, and consistently close gifts. The Director will be accountable for achieving aYear 1 fundraising goal of $750K, with growth to$1.25M in Year 2and$1.5M+ annuallythereafter.

SCOPE:

Adult Volunteer Leadership & Partner Engagement

• Support the coordination of the Advisory, Breakthrough’s network of adult volunteer leaders (including parent liaisons at host schools). Assist with planning, meetings and engagements; coordinate agendas and follow-up.
• Guide, support and coordinate Advisory sub-committees. Assist with development of promotional materials to support their efforts.

Donor Stewardship & Engagement

• Provide assistance to the Support-A-Scholar Annual Fund committee.
• Support sponsorship benefit fulfillment.
• Assist in the development of stewardship communications and materials in collaboration with the marketing team.
• Support acknowledgement letter process with Operations Associate, ensuring compelling written templates are provided for each campaign.
• Coordinate logistics for donor engagement tours.

Events Support

• Assist in planning and execution of events, including but not limited to Fashion & Philanthropy, STEPS 5K, Mock Interview Day, Career Day and Brunch.
• Support event committee engagement and coordination to maximize impact.
• Maintain a portfolio of in-kind donors, including silent auction donors and event vendors, while identifying new prospects for in-kind support.
• Support development of event marketing materials, sponsorship packages, and impact reports.
• Maintain event project management tools to document and track planning and preparation.
• Identify and coordinate with vendors (caterers, AV, graphic designers, venues, photographers, consultants, in-kind donors).
• Assist with management of event budgets.
• Provide support for partner-led events benefiting Breakthrough Miami.
• Provide support for select programmatic events as needed.
• Participate in or lead special projects related to donor and volunteer engagement.
