Job summary

EMPath is seeking a Senior Director of Development to lead the organization’s fundraising strategy and donor engagement from its Boston offices. You will manage a small team, focus on individual giving and institutional partnerships, and report to the CAO and CEO.

The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on fundraising and event leadership. The senior director will drive revenue growth, oversee grants and major gifts, and collaborate across the organization to improve development

Qualifications

• At least seven years of experience in nonprofit development.
• Experience soliciting individuals, foundations, and corporations at the 6-7+ figure level.
• Proven track record of increasing annual philanthropic revenues.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to proactively build new donor relationships.
• Strong supervisory experience leading a small team.
• Very strong writing skills.
• Strong project and event management skills.
• Commitment, initiative and ability to motivate staff and donors.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Raiser's Edge or similar CRM.
• Willingness to travel for fundraising meetings.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate to develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy across major gifts, grants, annual giving, corporate partnerships, sponsorships, and events.
• Achieve annual and multi-year revenue goals and support departmental and organizational objectives.
• Manage a portfolio of major donor prospects and steward relationships to deepen partnerships.
• Devise plans to qualify, cultivate, and solicit high net worth donors.
• Oversee grant writing, reports, site visits, and stewardship communications.
• Lead and develop the advancement team, ensuring effective donor communications.
• Plan and execute donor cultivation events including a major gala and a biennial conference.
• Develop a planned giving program and expand monthly giving in collaboration with the team.
• Collaborate with leadership to document donor contact information and engagement activities.
