Job summary

TransUnion is seeking a Data Scientist to join the Financial Services Consulting team as a Sr Analyst, reporting to a Senior Manager. This hybrid role blends client engagements with internal analytics, delivering predictive risk management and BI solutions for fintechs, credit issuers, and banks.

You'll work with R, Python, SQL and other tools to extract insights, present findings to executives, and mentor junior colleagues while helping expand TransUnion's analytic product offerings.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD degree in statistics, applied mathematics, financial mathematics, engineering, operations research, or another highly quantitative field, with a demonstrated record of academic excellence, to support the advanced analytical work required in this role.
• At least one year of experience performing analytical work within Financial Services or a related industry, providing the industry context needed to address complex business challenges.
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex information and develop effective, data-informed solutions.
• Versatile interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across multiple organizational levels and with external stakeholders while contributing in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
• Ability to travel approximately 10% to 20%, based on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to drive new business initiatives and deliver long-term value-added product propositions for customers in the US financial services segment at TransUnion.
• Lead analytic client engagements involving descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analysis through the consumer lending portfolio lifecycle, leveraging a variety of techniques (e.g., segmentation, logistic regression, gradient boosted trees, survival analysis, principal component analysis, scenario and sensitivity analysis).
• Design and write programs for data extraction, segmentation and statistical analysis on large population datasets using languages such as R, Python, and SQL.
• Deliver analytic insights and recommendations in succinct and compelling presentations for internal and external customers and an executive audience.
• Develop project proposals, sales presentations, and promotional collateral to enable the adoption of integrated customer solutions supported by TransUnion.
• Identify strategies and opportunities for customers to test and adopt TransUnion’s analytic products and services.
• Provide mentorship and training to junior colleagues and maintain progress on all initiatives under limited direct supervision.
• Foster a high performance culture and cultivate an environment that promotes excellence and reflects the TransUnion brand.
