Job summary

Crescent Electric Supply Company is hiring a Data Engineer to architect, develop, and manage data pipelines across multiple entities. You will build Bronze/Silver/Gold layers, support analytics, and drive governance and security across ERP systems.

Lead the technical build-out for a Google Cloud migration, mentor SQL developers, and collaborate with BI teams and business stakeholders to deliver trusted data for self-service reporting and advanced analytics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5–7+ years of experience in data engineering, ETL development, or database development.
• Experience supporting multi-entity or multi-ERP environments a plus.
• Strong hands-on expertise in SQL and relational databases; NoSQL a plus.
• Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines using SSIS, Azure Data Factory, or equivalent.
• Experience with cloud data platforms (Google Cloud, Azure, or AWS); Google Cloud experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of data modeling concepts (Bronze/Silver/Gold medallion or similar).
• Scripting experience (Python or similar) for automation and data transformation a plus.
• Experience with ERP systems (Eclipse/Epicor) a plus.
• Ability to mentor and guide less-experienced developers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Pipeline Architecture & Development: design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Data Modeling: develop and maintain Bronze/Silver/Gold data models.
• Platform Modernization: lead data platform build-out for Google Cloud migration.
• AI-Enabled Engineering: explore AI coding tools to optimize pipeline code.
• Data Quality & Governance: embed governance and error handling in pipelines.
• Technical Mentorship: provide guidance to SQL Developers on best practices.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: work with DBA, BI Developers, and stakeholders.
• Documentation: maintain comprehensive data flow and architecture docs.
• Security & Compliance: ensure data handling and access controls across ERP instances.
