Job summary

Crescent Electric Supply Co. is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and govern data pipelines across multiple ERP systems. The role emphasizes Bronze/Silver/Gold data layers, data quality, and platform modernization, including a Google Cloud migration and AI-assisted coding practices.

You will mentor SQL developers, collaborate with BI and business stakeholders, and ensure data is accurate, governed, and structured for self-service analytics. Hybrid work near Crescent locations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
5–7+ years in data engineering or ETL development.
Experience in multi-entity or multi-ERP environments a plus.
Strong SQL and relational DBs; NoSQL a plus.
ETL/ELT pipelines with SSIS, Azure Data Factory or equivalent.
Cloud data platforms experience; Google Cloud preferred.
Data modeling concepts including medallion architecture.
Python or similar scripting for automation.
ERP experience with Eclipse/Epicor is a plus.
Ability to mentor less-experienced developers.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Hands-on AI experience a plus; willingness to learn Claude Code.

Responsibilities

Pipeline Architecture & Development for scalable ETL/ELT data flows.
Data Modeling for Bronze/Silver/Gold medallion layers.
Lead data platform modernization for Google Cloud migration.
Champion AI-assisted engineering practices across the team.
Embed data governance and validation in pipelines.
Provide indirect leadership and code-review guidance.
Collaborate with DBA, BI developers, and stakeholders on designs.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of data flows and architecture.
Ensure security and compliance across ERP instances.
