Job summary

John Crane, a business of Smiths Group, seeks an experienced CNC Operator/Programmer for evenings and weekend shifts. The hybrid role combines hands-on machining with on-floor programming to improve cycle times and machine utilization.

Experience with Mazak lathes/mills is preferred; Haas and DMG knowledge is a plus. 3+ years in manufacturing and a High School Diploma are required, with EdgeCam or Fusion 360 skills considered a bonus.

Qualifications

• Must have CNC machining experience.
• Ability to read and interpret prints and written instructions.
• Must be able to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate lathes, mills, and CNC machines safely and efficiently.
• Develop offline CNC programs for critical paths and bottlenecks based on shop priorities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production program issues and optimize cycle times.
• Support new product introductions and project-related programming activities.
• Train and assist other CNC set-up operators and document manufacturing activities.
