Job summary

John Crane, a business of Smiths Group, is seeking a hybrid Operator/Programmer for machining on the shop floor. Primary focus on hands-on production with additional offline CNC programming to address bottlenecks and critical paths.

You will set up and operate lathes, mills, and CNC machines, troubleshoot programs, develop offline CNC programs, and work to improve cycle times, throughput, and machine utilization while documenting manufacturing activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent education.
• Proficiency in G-code editing and Mazatrol programming/editing.
• Experience with Mazak milling machines.
• Ability to collaborate within teams and cross-functionally.
• 3+ years' experience in manufacturing preferred.
• Associates or technical degree preferred.
• Strong knowledge of EdgeCam or Fusion 360.

Responsibilities

• Setup and operate lathes, mills, and CNC machines safely and efficiently.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production program issues.
• Develop offline CNC programs for bottlenecks based on shop floor priorities.
• Support new product introductions and project-related programming.
• Improve programming efficiency to optimize cycle times, throughput, and utilization.
• Document manufacturing activities in alignment with quality standards.
• Manage multiple concurrent tasks and changing priorities.
