Job summary

John Crane, a business of Smiths Group, seeks a hybrid Operator/Programmer for our Kentucky shop floor. Primary machining duties plus offline CNC programming to address bottlenecks and drive efficiency.

You will set up and operate lathes, mills, and CNC machines, troubleshoot production issues, and document activities to quality standards. Shift: Fri-Sun 6:00 pm–6:00 am; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent education.
• Experience working with Mazak milling machines.
• 3+ years’ work experience in manufacturing industry is preferred.
• Associates or technical degree preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
• Must be able to sit for extended periods of time; a minimum of 2 hours.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and carry up to 40 pounds.
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate lathes, mills, and CNC machines in a safe and efficient manner.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production program issues; develop offline CNC programs for bottlenecks based on shop floor priorities.
• Support new product introductions and project-related programming activities; improve programming efficiency to optimize cycle times, increase throughput, and maximize machine utilization.
• Accurately document manufacturing activities in alignment with company objectives and quality standards.
• Manage multiple tasks with changing priorities in a dynamic production environment.
