Job summary

John Crane, a business of Smiths Group, is seeking an experienced CNC Operator/Programmer for evening and weekend shifts in a hybrid operator/programmer role. The position requires machining experience, with Mazak lathe/mill proficiency desirable and Haas/DMG familiarity as a plus.

The role balances hands-on machining with on-floor programming, troubleshooting, and offline programming to optimize cycle times and machine utilization. Strong teamwork and safety adherence are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required or preferred.
• Associates or technical degree preferred.
• 3+ years’ work experience in manufacturing is preferred.
• Experience with Mazak lathe/mill and Haas/DMG is a plus.
• Understanding of shop mathematics and reading blueprints helpful.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve production program issues.
• Develop offline CNC programs for critical paths or bottlenecks.
• Support new product introductions and project-related programming activities.
• Set up and operate lathes, mills, and CNC machines safely and efficiently.
• Improve programming efficiency to reduce cycle times and increase throughput.
• Document manufacturing activities in alignment with quality standards.
• Assist in training other CNC setup operators.
