Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Commerce is seeking a Benefits Coordinator who also serves as a Payroll Time Administrator for Leave Management. You will oversee FMLA, FIL, VSL and related programs, audit documentation, and provide guidance on retirement benefits.

You will develop agency policies to ensure regulatory compliance and supervise the Benefits Representative, with backup duties for retirement processing. A hybrid telework option may be available.

Qualifications

• Experience interpreting state statutes, policies, and regulations for employee benefits.
• Experience administering FMLA, FIL, and VSL leave programs.
• Ability to apply benefits and leave policies to determine actions and resolve discrepancies.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Benefits Coordinator and Payroll Time Administrator for Leave Management.
• Submit paperwork and provide guidance on Retirement benefits.
• Develop and maintain agency policy in benefits and leave areas for compliance.
• Supervise Benefits Representative and back up retirement processing.
• Assist with retirement process management.
