Job summary

Citibank (Switzerland) AG in Irving, TX seeks an Backend Engineering Lead (AVP) to drive design and delivery of scalable Java microservices and DevOps-enabled backend platforms. You will lead cross-functional teams and own CI/CD pipelines, observability, and high-availability systems.

Responsibilities include building RESTful APIs, integrating AI capabilities, mentoring developers, and ensuring security and regulatory compliance while raising development practices to industry standards.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of relevant experience in software development.
• Experience in systems analysis and programming of software applications.
• Experience in managing and implementing successful projects.
• Working knowledge of consulting/project management techniques/methods.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for deployments.
• Monitor applications using observability tools and anomaly detection.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and microservices with Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and enhance RESTful APIs and enterprise-grade distributed systems.
• Lead development efforts in system design, code reviews, and best practices.
• Integrate AI/ML capabilities or third-party AI services into backend applications.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding and testing.
• Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks with AI-driven techniques.
• Collaborate with frontend, QA, DevOps, and product managers.
• Optimize database queries and ensure high availability and resiliency.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, security guidelines, and regulatory compliance.
• Mentor junior developers; promote modern engineering practices.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies in backend, cloud, and AI-driven software development.
• Assess risks in technical decisions aligning with standards.
