Job summary

Citi is seeking an experienced Java Backend Development Lead to spearhead the design, development, and deployment of AI-powered platforms. You will lead a team of engineers, architect scalable backend systems, and collaborate with data scientists to integrate ML models, delivering value to users.

The role requires hands-on leadership, extensive Java and Spring Boot expertise, and a strong background in microservices, containers, and cloud-friendly architectures.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of backend software development experience with Java.
• 8+ years in technical leadership or lead developer roles.
• Extensive experience with the Spring Framework, especially Spring Boot.
• Strong microservices architecture, Docker, and Kubernetes knowledge.
• Proficient in designing RESTful APIs and event-driven systems.
• Solid experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with message brokers such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a backend team in a fast-paced Agile environment.
• Architect scalable, secure Java backend services and APIs.
• Collaborate with data scientists to integrate AI/ML models.
• Oversee full software development lifecycle from design to deployment.
