Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Automation and Controls Engineer in the United States to design instrumentation, controls and related systems using 3D/4D practices. You will work on P&IDs, control architectures, and descriptions for programming, and you may assist with testing and startup.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and about five years of related experience; travel of 20–40% is expected. You will mentor junior staff, contribute to proposals, and support automation strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• 5 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel frequency varies by project.

Responsibilities

• Creates basic to moderately complex instrumentation, controls and related systems designs using 3D and 4D design practices.
• Reviews basic to highly complex component level shop drawings and clarifications; assists with testing oversight.
• Develops P&IDs, control system architectures, specifications and control descriptions for programming.
• Leads staff and mentors junior staff; reviews their work as needed.
• Supports proposals and marketing activities in support of the Automation strategy.
