Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Automation (Instrumentation & Controls) Engineer to join our Irvine, CA office in 2027. You will collaborate with a team of industry-leading engineers on a diverse portfolio of public, federal, and industrial projects, focusing on design and implementation of instrumentation and control systems.

Responsibilities include basic instrumentation and control designs using 3D/4D drafting, developing HMI designs and PLCs, and supporting testing and startup activities, with

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Travel may be required (up to 10%).
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, designs basic instrumentation, controls and related systems using 3D/4D drafting.
• Reviews simple component-level shop drawings.
• Creates basic human-machine interface (HMI) designs, programmable logic controllers (PLC), reports, etc.
• Performs other duties as required.
• Assists with testing and startup of instrumentation, controls and related systems.
