Job summary

Hargrove Engineers & Constructors is seeking an automation engineer to perform routine design work on DCS/PLC/HMI/SIS projects. You will support the execution of smaller automation tasks and provide on-site startup assistance, working under supervision while developing technical leadership.

The ideal candidate has a chemical, electrical, or computer engineering background with 1 year of industrial controls experience and registration steps such as EIT; PE is preferred upon eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering from an accredited university.
• EIT registration is required; PE registration is preferred upon eligibility.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant industrial experience in controls and automation engineering.
• Strong knowledge of ISA S88, ISA S84, IEC 61131 and OSHA 1910.119 standards.
• Ability to read PFDs, P&IDs and instrument loop sheets.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine design of less complex automation assignments using DCS/PLC/HMI/SIS systems; assist larger projects or lead smaller automation tasks.
• Provide on-site assistance during startup and fieldwork to gather data and verify configurations.
• Develop control system installation specifications and conceptual layouts with cost considerations.
• Review vendor drawings and other discipline inputs for Controls & Automation.
• Collaborate with design leaders across disciplines to ensure timely project completion.
