Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking an Associate Actuary in a hybrid role across CT, MA, or MI offices. This full-time exempt position requires leadership on actuarial projects, strong analytic skills, and the pursuit of FCAS.

You will guide junior team members, collaborate with stakeholders, and contribute to ratemaking and reserve analyses. Candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree, 5+ years actuarial experience, ACAS designation or higher, and proficiency in Excel and SQL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with five+ years of technical actuarial experience.
• ACAS designation or higher or equivalent work experience.
• Strong analytic ability to diagnose business problems and apply new techniques as needed.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
• Intermediate programming skills, including SQL, to automate processes.
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines with quality outcomes.
• Excellent communication skills to present findings to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business partners to identify and solve problems.
• Lead meetings and influence stakeholders; articulate findings clearly.
• Understand data and identify root causes behind trends.
• Recommend improvements to ratemaking, reserve methods, or related processes.
• Design and develop analyses to interpret results and guide strategy.
• Prepare systems specifications for actuarial projects.
• Communicate results to upper management and respond to inquiries.
• Mentor junior team members and support their development.
• May participate in community recruiting and training activities.
