Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Hy-Chi Department Cook to prepare a variety of hot and cold foods using authentic cooking techniques. You will keep the Hy-Chi kitchen stocked with freshly made items and uphold quality standards throughout the shift.

Ideal candidates are enthusiastic about cooking, capable of handling a fast-paced environment, and committed to delivering excellent customer service in-store.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• No prior experience required; training provided.
• Must be 18+ and able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile and assist with needs throughout the store.
• Prepare wok items by cleaning, heating, and adding oil for cooking.
• Cook soups and meats, prepare vegetables and sauces with spices, and combine ingredients.
• Place food in hot cases, monitor quantities, and refill as necessary.
• Fill the cold case with fresh-made food and prepare items for the next day.
• Understand Hy-Chi kitchen operations and perform cooking duties with accuracy and consistency.
• Take customer orders when needed and assist department head.
• Order product and supplies or notify the department head of needs.
• Maintain a clean work area and follow dress code and hygiene standards.
